In all the election posters of Congress party in the Delhi Assembly polls this month, the faces of the Congress party were Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. But, when they drew a blank in the results, it was Ajay Makhan who owned up responsibility.
Similarly, the face of the BJP in the Delhi Assembly polls were Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. They were all over the city on the posters, banners and what have you. But, when it came to owning up responsibility of their debacle in the Delhi elections, they wanted to make Kiran Bedi their scapegoat. But, she was not one to take the blame. She claimed that she had won though the people of her constituency rejected her. When asked to explain the BJP debacle in Delhi, she said: "I have not lost. The BJP has lost. Ask them." This blame game can go on among Modi, Amit and Kiran. But, the people of India are not interested in it.
In all these, Arvind Kejriwal was different in his approach. He owned up responsibility for whatever happened during the last adventure in forming the Delhi Government and offered an unconditional apology. This is the sign of a responsible leader. That is why Delhi voted him to power with an unprecedented majority.
When it comes to finding the nicest, sweetest and most trusting people, no other state or union territory in India can match the people of Delhi.
During the Lok Sabha Polls in 2014, the BJP slogan was: "Ab Ki Bar Modi Sarkar…" Delhi embraced him with all their love and gave him all the seven seats.
This time around, Arvind Kejriwal apologized for his misadventure last time and prayed for: Paanch Saal, Kejriwal. And, Delhi gave him five years with overwhelming majority. Otherwise, winning a majority with 67 seats out of 70 is unheard of in the history of the Delhi Assembly elections.
Narendra Modi disappointed them. Now, it is the turn of Arvind Kejriwal to perform.
A new day beckons!
History was created yesterday! The people of Delhi voted decisively for clear, clean, responsive and honest governance
