[nidokidos] WISDOM Vs KNOWLEDGE

WISDOM Vs KNOWLEDGE - A comparison

I might not be possessing wisdom. But let me say something about / share my knowledge on knowledge and wisdom:-

1. Wisdom and not knowledge is the goal of man.

2.All our knowledge is based upon experience. But Instinct, inspiration and reason are the three instruments of wisdom. Illumination born of discriminative reflection is Wisdom.

3. The gift of wisdom is the highest gift in the world ; for wisdom leads to freedom.

4.There is no wisdom in nature. Wisdom abides within everyone in the fullest measure. Nobody ever created wisdom. Wisdom is not to be attained, All wisdom is within us. It can only be discovered. Man brings it from within. What remained covered is uncovered.

5. Wisdom is nothing but knowledge of God, knowledge of Brahman and finding unity in the midst of diversity. There is no wisdom higher than the knowledge of the Atman.

6. Wisdom does not mean simply intellectual assent or appreciation, but realization of Truth.

7. True wisdom lies in the realization of the Self.

8. Of what use is knowledge if it does not show us the way to the Highest?

9. Wisdom can be observed/ assimilated even from the man of low birth.

10. True wisdom consists in separating ourselves from matter.

11. Men of wisdom think alike; they do not take anything for granted.

12. When a man is wise, he sees wisdom in others.

13. Wisdom does not come from belief or faith.

14. When a pot is being filled with water by immersion, it gurgles, but when full, it is noiseless. A man acquiring knowledge shows off; a man of wisdom is quiet.

15. The real test of a Wise man is not in the jungle or in a cave, but in the market - place, when he is teased by the mischieves of the world.

16. Humility,love, tolerance,mercy etc.,are the characteristic marks of Wisdom.

WISDOM Vs KNOWLEDGE

From Osho's lectures:

Wisdom is an existential experience. It is not something known from others, it is something that grows in your heart.

Knowledge makes you learned:
Wisdom makes you innocent.

Knowledge is very ego-fulfilling, very ego-strengthening.
The ego feeds on knowledge; it is the best tonic for the ego.

Wisdom happens only when ego has disappeared;
The death of the ego is the birth of wisdom.

Mind is interested in knowledge not in wisdom, because for wisdom you will have to create a space called no-mind. And, naturally, mind is afraid of your ever becoming interested in wisdom, because mind does not want to commit suicide.

Knowledge depends on words. You can easily become knowledgeable by sitting in a library, but you cannot become wise that way.

To become wise you will have to be in communion with wise men/material.

For knowledge all that is required of you is that you should be a student, that you should be full of questions, inquiries; you should be able to learn from scriptures, books, teachers, universities, libraries. Your memory becomes more and more rich, your biocomputer becomes full of information,

But wisdom is not arrived at that way.

Osho - Knowledge Wisdom (Serbian Sub)

Chandra Mohan Jain, also known as Acharya Rajneesh from the 1960s onwards, as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh during the 1970s and 1980s, and as Osho from 1989, was an Indian mystic, guru and spiritual teacher.
