Fairy Meadows, Nanga Parbat, Pakistan
Fairy Meadows is a lush green plateau at 3300m, located at the western most edge of the Himalayas in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan. It offers a breathtaking view of north face of majestic 8126m high Nanga Parbat ("Naked Mountain"). It is renowned for its tranquility, is sometimes known as "Heaven on Earth".
Name Hermann Buhl, the Austrian climber who in 1953 made the first ascent of Nanga Parbat, named it Fairy Meadows on account of its wonderful scenery, taking into consideration a legend that fairies had their heaven there.
