[nidokidos] London's burning

London's burning

Hundreds of angry protesters gathered near Tottenham police station in north London on Saturday evening demanding justice for the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man during an apparent exchange of gunfire with police officers on Thursday. As riot police were brought into the area, crowds torched two patrol cars, a bus and a shop outside the police station on the High Road in Tottenham, smashing up shop windows.
In 1985, similar protests and subsequent riots happened in Tottenham after a woman died during a police search of her home.

[nidokidos] Glass Beach of California

Glass Beach of California

Usually when a person throws out litter he/she influences the nature in a negative way. Heaps of litter are not useful, they spoil not only the air, soil and water but also harm the aesthetic look of the natural beauty. Could you ever think of any exceptions to this rule?
There is one interesting place - Glass Beach, Fort Bragg, California, USA. This place is amazing. In the 60s the junkyard was closed and the litter just lived its life. Heaps of broken glass, plastic and other litter were just lying under the California sun washed by the sea waves and blown by the sea breezes

Eventually by the 80s it was noticed that not a trace remained from the junkyard. All the glass on the beach turned into amazing beautiful bright and translucent stones under the impact of the waves. From that time and on more and more tourists began to come here, this place has become very popular. There are many masters who make various souvenirs from these stones that sell rather well. It's a great wonder of the industrial interference of humans in the natural processes.

London riots: Facing unending rioting

Facing unending rioting that has spread to other cities, London deployed 16,000 police in the largest show of force in the city's history. British Prime Minister David Cameron cut short a holiday in Italy to return home to deal with the widening crisis. Army units are standing by to help restore order. To date, 563 people have been arrested, and over 100 police officers injured. Collected here are images of the rioting and efforts to clean up the destruction. -- Lane Turner

Salmon Fish - Beauty of Pacific Ocean

The Kamchatka Peninsula is a 1,250-kilometer long peninsula in the Russian Far East. It lies between the Pacific Ocean to the east and the Sea of Okhotsk to the west.

Kamchatka contains probably the world's greatest diversity of salmonid fish, including all six species of anadromous Pacific salmon (chinook, chum, coho, seema, pink, and sockeye). Biologists estimate that a sixth to a quarter of all Pacific salmon originates in Kamchatka.

Kuril Lake is recognized as the biggest spawning-ground for sockeye in Eurasia. In response to pressure from poaching and to worldwide decreases in salmon stocks, some 24,000 square kilometers (9,300 sq mi) along nine of the more productive salmon rivers are in the process of being set aside as a nature preserve.

Kamchatka Salmon Season

As day breaks, everything seems normal. But the bears wake to good news. S

almon numbers in the lake have reached a critical level as the fish pass into shallow side rivers to spawn.
